Adlai Ewing Stevenson II (February 5, 1900 – July 14, 1965) was an American lawyer, politician, and diplomat. Raised in Bloomington, Illinois, Stevenson was a member of the Democratic Party. Kerner was a Chicago lawyer, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, county judge, Illinois governor (1961-1968), and court of appeals judge, from which post he was removed after a criminal conviction.
